College Retreat: Broken for His Glory
Dallas Bozeman : College Retreat : 2 Corinthians 4:2 : January 26, 2019
Barna Research conducted a study and found that 70% of Freshmen entering college as professing believers will leave their faith by the time they leave campus. The church must consist of disciples who are making disciples now, more than ever. As Christians striving to make disciples, we can be discouraged. We hope to see a change in people that they don’t want for themselves. Paul encourages the church at Corinth not to lose heart, but stay faithful to the truth.
The sad reality is that many communities have tampered with the Word of God to feed their own egos. If you find yourself losing heart in your faith or in proclaiming Christ as Lord, there’s a good chance that you’re making more of yourself than Christ. Paul reminds us that your brokenness, your weakness, and your insignificance, are all at work to glorify God. You are never too broken to be redeemed. You’re never too weak to be used. Every crack and hole in that jar of clay makes the light you carry that more visible and your life has immense value and purpose because it will be shone to the world that your testimony is from God, and not yourself.
