Mikaila is a native of Mississippi and has a long history with Snowbird. She came as a camper from 2010-2014, worked Summer Staff in 2022, and she is now an intern. Her favorite thing about working here is learning how to disciple and lead teenagers in their faith. After Snowbird she plans on going to med-school somewhere in North Carolina and in May of 2023, she will graduate with her Masters in Biology.

Jill Riegel
Kitchen – Day Shift Leader
Jill arrived and joined the full-time staff in 2021. She is originally from central Pennsylvania and worked for several years as a pharmacy tech and medical assistant until their second child was born. Jeff Garner, transportation director, has been connected with Snowbird for over a decade and joined the staff team in 2021. He’s originally from Elm City, NC and spent several years attending SWO events with Raleigh Road Baptist. He attended Atlantic Christian College and brings years of experience in leadership and small business management. Jeff’s primary role is managing the Transportation Department and keeping Snowbird’s vehicles running smoothly and ready to go for their frequent trips. Jeff and his wife, Keturah, have two children, Adam and Erin, and two grandchildren. Their son, Adam Garner, serves as Snowbird’s Program Manager.

Colt Christmas
Mechanic
Daniel Colt Christmas is from Zuni, VA. He grew up on a farm since he was 4 years old. Growing up, Colt did catering and lawn care jobs. He came to summer camp as a camper from 2015 – 2018.
Despite never thinking that he would work at a camp, he had a heart change. The Lord showed him that his life was to be used in ministry. Colt worked his first summer in 2019 and interned for the next two years.
At camp, Colt is the transportation assistant. He maintains Snowbird’s fleet of cars, vans, and buses; both visually and mechanically. Colt is compelled to work at camp for two reasons: because its foundation is the Gospel of Jesus Christ in everything and the glory of Jesus is of the utmost importance.
Colt was married in January of 2023 to Mady and is pursuing a call to pastoral ministry. He has been prepared for that role while working at Snowbird and is excited to see how the Lord will continue to prepare him for that calling.

Founders

Steve Coleman
Co-founder
Steve “Kahuna” Coleman was a member of Snowbird’s founding team and worked in student ministry for nearly 30 years. In the 1980s, Kahuna and his wife, Billie Fay, served in youth ministry at First Baptist Church in Woodstock, G.A. He followed his time there as a corporate chaplain. After six years, he and Billie Fay uprooted their lives and relocated to Andrews, North Carolina, to bring their vision of Snowbird Wilderness Outfitters to life. In 1997, the first group of students rolled onto the Snowbird property.
On Monday, August 22, 2022, Steve Coleman, went to be with the Lord. Steve, better known to the Snowbird family as, “The Big Kahuna,” was a man used by God to start a ministry that has now affected unknown thousands of people for the past 2 and a half decades. In light of his passing into the presence of our Savior, we wanted to take some time to celebrate his life and legacy.
The Big Kahuna was a larger-than-life personality with a contagious love for God and His Word. Please follow the link below to watch a video update from Brody and get the latest info on the public memorial service for the Big Kahuna.
