Indicatives and Imperatives: A better way to understand what these words mean might be to call them “declarations of fact” (indicatives) and “commands to follow” (imperatives). We are who God says we are. The book of Ephesians says that Christians are adopted as sons of God. As Christians, we are declared righteous, holy, and are called sons and daughters of God. And, we are called to live like it.
